Leader: Heidi Hornbacher

We’re bringing our long-running Italy screenwriting retreat program online and reworking it into a once-a-week format to fit busy schedules. This workshop is for writers of all levels who want a supportive framework in which to take a story idea from concept to first draft and beyond.

Each session will focus on a distinct set of screenwriting principles, including character design, story structure, scene construction, and dialog polish. We mix mini-lectures, coaching, exercises, and targeted feedback in order to empower writers to produce their best work. Between sessions, we offer one-to-one consultations (up to an hour each week) to help you with any individual questions or issues. The result is a comprehensive course delivering the hows and whys of screenwriting technique.

Bonus! Because the most fun part of the course is table-reading pages, after the 8-week workshop program concludes, we’re throwing in an extra session of page reads, giving you a chance to continue your work and get additional feedback on any specific challenges you’re experiencing.

The support doesn’t end there. After the workshop is over, you may take advantage of a Script Consultation for 50% off. Or, you may pre-pay the script consultation as part of the workshop registration, in which case it will cost only $60 regardless of script length. Also, check out our weekly Writers Lunch to ask questions or just hang out with other writers.

Price: $475

A 10% discount applies for alumni of PageCraft or Michelangelo Screenwriting Italy retreats. A 5% discount applies for alumni of Los Angeles or online PageCraft workshops. Please note that our discounts are not cumulative; only the higher discount applies for alumni of both.

How to Register: Please make your payment below, or write to us at if you are interested. In either case we will schedule a conversation to confirm your registration, during which we will ask you about the project you would like to work on and your writing background. If for some reason we are unable to confirm registration, we will refund your payment in full. We’ve added an afternoon section, but only two slots remain!
